The Burning Times
Over 300 years of murder!
At least 300,000 and as many as 9 million people were murdered by the christian church. The torture was unbarable and grotesque. Pain was brought upon millions of men, women, children and infants. Much like the plauge, theese murderes swept across Europe and then the rest of the world, devouring the honorable people of the Old ways. Christinity was forced into homes and the old ways were forced underground.
Today we are resurfacing and bringing back the old gods. We, for 500 years, have survived Christinity and their prejuduce.
We are STRONG!
we WILL survive.
Never again - THE BURNING TIMES!
Salem, United states, 1892. nineteen (at least) were murdered in this one small town. The witch hysteria began with the christian church. Other religions may have pursecuted pagans but as of now we know of none. The tortures were grotesque and i hate to think about them but those are simply the facts.
Below arehave listed some of the more popular ones.
Blooding: The accused was slit above the nose and mouth and let to bleed. Often many bled to death.
Boots: Two "half boots" were placed on each side of the leg. the inside had wooden wedges and as the boots were pounded together the wedges would slice through flesh and bone many times rendering the leg useless.
Burning: This was the most popular. Witches were burned dead or half dead. If an unconsious person should awaken and stumble out of the fire they would be pushed back in my onlookers.
Strangulation: hanging. this was very common
The wheel: similar to crusifiction. the victem was tied to a wheel and every bone crushed with a large hammer. Normally this was ended by a blow to the chest.
The iron maiden: A tomb like box with spikes on the inside. when it was closed on the person the spikes would pierce the skin causing great pain. Often it took several hours to kill the victem.
Impalment: A spike was inserted through the vagina and would exit through the head or throat. Often if it came through the throat it would take several minutes to die, the person's own weight causing great pain.
The triangle: a pyrimid that was about 4-5 feet tall. a woman would have to "sit" upon it with weights on her arms and legs. the point of the triangle going through the vagina. this was very painful!
Theese are just a few. Not nearly all. Despite theese horrific proceedings, paganism is rapidly growing and thriving.
In the united states it is estimated that about 10 million are openly practicing today. This does not include those that are still in the "broom closet". With no regard to the Bill of Rights murders are still being taken out upon innocent pagans today. Many of it is not reconized by the news as a religious murder if it is mentioned at all. For these reasons pagans are still in fear but it is growing and soon we will thrive as we once did on Earth with the old gods and goddesses. Paganism, which is naturally made (rather than christinity which is a man made religion) will reclaim what has been destroyed.
